INVITATION
How to Effectively Ban Products made with Forced Labour

We would hereby like to invite you to join us for the presentation and discussion on a Model Law for an effective EU ban of products made with forced labour.

The event will take place on November 10, from 8 to 9.00 am (CET).

Please register here!

Currently there are around 27.6 million people affected by forced labour worldwide, and the numbers are even rising. The products made by them often end up on our supermarket shelves, making European consumers involuntary accomplices. Thus, the pressure to act is great.

To end this, GreensEFA have for long called for a ban on products made with forced labour. The European Parliament also adopted a resolution making a strong call for such a ban this summer.

The event discussion will also take stock of the European Commission’s legislative proposal in September and will mirror it against the model law. We will discuss what role the EU must play in preventing forced labour by ensuring an effective ban mechanism.

The breakfast discussion will be with

· Dr. Irene Pietropaoli from the British Institute for International and Comparative Law, author of the Model Law
· Andy Hall, a labour rights activist and researcher
· Ben Vanpeperstraete, Senior Legal Adviser, ECCHR
